چکیده

Objective When we perform surgical correction for spinal deformity with degenerative changes, nerve root impingement, traction, or nerve root injury could be occurred. Electromyographic (EMG) monitoring provides a real-time measure of impending spinal nerve root injury during instrumented posterior lumbar fusion. However, the utility of intraoperative EMG monitoring is still questionable because of large variance in muscle domination, morphological abnormality and the abnormal EMG signal from a nearby muscle. The aim of this study was identified clinical mapping of lumbar nerve root motor domination under EMG monitoring in the patients who had normal root morphology.

Normal and pathological anatomy of the lumbar spinal nerve root canals.

4 In the 1 970s there were two outstanding changes which influenced the management of spinal disorders. First, significant advances occurred in investigative methods: safer water-soluble contrast agents became available, leading to improved myelography; computerised tomography heralded a revolution in non-invasive imaging of the spinal canal; ultrasonic measuring techniques were applied to the ...

Evaluation of Sensory Pathways in Spinal Cord by Comparison of fMRI Methodologies

Introduction: Today, clinicians and neuroscientists need to have a comprehensive survey of neurological pathologies and injuries. For the First-time, SEEP contrast and Spin-Echo pulse sequences was used for functional imaging of the Lumbar spinal cord. This method used by several research groups for Spinal cord mapping, but other researchers tried to improve BOLD fMRI to Spina...

Motor evoked potentials for femoral nerve protection in transpsoas lateral access surgery of the spine.

Detecting potential intraoperative injuries to the femoral nerve should be the main goal of neuromonitoring of lateral lumber interbody fusion (LLIF) procedures. We propose a theory and technique to utilize motor evoked potentials (MEPs) to protect the femoral nerve (a peripheral nerve), which is at risk in LLIF procedures. MEPs have been advocated and widely used for monitoring spinal cord fun...

Study of the Effects of Horsetail Stem Extract Administration on the Numerical Density of Alpha Motoneurons in the Ventral Horn of Lumbar Spinal Cord of Compressed Sciatic Nerve of Rat

Purpose: The goal of this research was to study of the protective effects horse tail (HT) plant extract on the central degeneration of alpha motoneurons (AM) of spinal cord.Materials and Methods: The lesioned sciatic rats were divided into sham, control and 3 experimental groups and treated by 15 mg/kg, ip HT extract. The animals were care for one month and then were sacrificed and perfused car...

Neuroprotective Effects of Aqueous Extract of Achillea Wilhelmsii on Motor Neuron Destruction of Spinal Cord Ventral Horn after Sciatic Nerve Compression in Male Adult Rats

Background & Aims: Peripheral nerve injuries affect both sensory and motor function, resulting in retrograde reaction to neuronal cell bodies in the ventral horn of spinal cord ventral and their destruction. Achillea wilhelmsii is one of the popular medicinal herbs which grow in dry and semitropical areas worldwide. There are several reports indicating the anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, anti...
